Greetings Y'all,
WaHoo!!! Ok, got that out of the way. I had a unique experience the other day and it has taken a few days to get my head around it. I was standing in the checkout line at a Kroger Super market here in the Houston area, it was on a Monday afternoon. For some reason when I go to the grocery store it's very late or extremely early. Usually the only people in the store are the employees and a few other night owls like myself, so I'm not really use to the "social hours" of a grocery store. I had ran into grab some things I had forgotten to pickup for this "slammin" dinner I was gonna prepare for the fam. I know, I know, I'm getting to it. Well, in front of me in the express checkout lane was an attractive 30 something mom and her young little boy. I don't really know how their argument started, I just sort of walked up on it, but I think it was over her refusal to buy him the candy he wanted. Why? Because that is about the time he called her a "pussy".
Wow! Did he really say that? 5 or 6 years old, maybe 7, and in a grocery store callin out mom like that! I would have been dead where I stood, never mind having to face dad later, mom wouldn't have needed any help in this case. It happened so fast... I was like "uh oh, did he", and the young female cashier was looking at me like "WTF", like it was my fault or something. Maybe I felt guilty because I am familiar with the word. Well, the next phase was Mom's reaction. Me and the cashier where the only other people to hear it go down but it was amazing how Mom dealt with it. She looked at me with one of those "don't you say a word, or you die" glances and then she put her finger to her mouth to shush him. She bent over him, drew him in close and whispered something in his ear. The kid looked down at the floor and put his hands in his pockets, looked kinda like he was gonna cry, I don't know what she said, but the skirmish was over. The Mom stood up, finished her transaction with the cashier and kinda pushed the boy along and headed out. I watched them leave and then turned to the cashier, who said,in all sincerity "I wonder what she does when he uses the "C" word?". I lost it, laughed my ass off.... I mean if this cashier is thinking this little boy knows the meaning of either of these two words in perspective, we really have a problem.
Or worse, maybe I was more of a "late bloomer" than I know.

FOX news / The Enquirer of the 21st Century
Que pasa amigo's y amigas'.
Hey, it's George Washington's birthday, everything is closed. Can you believe that? The FED takes a holiday for a president that passed away in 1799. George was great and did a lot for our country but it's 2011. We have honored him in just about everyway possible so I think it's ok to pass on this as a Fed holiday, just my take.
Now on to my bitch of the day, that would be FOX NEWS, the "fair and balanced" news organization. Just as I stated in the header, FOX has become the "Enquirer" of the 21st century. This network is tanking, and I don't mean by it's earnings, ratings, visitors, viewers, you know... all things MONEY. I am speaking of ethics or in this case, total lack of ethics. WTF?, you say. Yep, the "bastion" of conservatism has become a sell out. My grandmother use to buy the "National Enquirer" ever time we went to the grocery store. I remember waiting for the 1st chance I had at snagging it the minute she would put it down. It had all kinds of "alien" articles and it was full of movie star spats and marital infidelity. I guess that some of the photos were a little risque and that definitely was a big attraction. Now when I go to the FOX NEWS web site, the articles are just as loony and some of the hosts on there, WTF? it's starting to get out of hand. Rupert Murdoch needs to thank barry obozo and his administration for all the shit they have screwed up. This whip storm of conservatism and the Tea Party movement have really inflated the FOX earnings.
If I hear one more of those pundits talk about buying gold or backing up my disc storage, I may just shit my pants, seriously, it is ridiculous and they are laughing all the way to the bank. It seems to me that Rupert has found that conservatism is a commodity as well. Remember that old bought and sold definition? Anyway, yes I do visit the site daily. I try to read at least two newspapers and then hit the so called "conservative" web sites. The more I know of the different news outlet interpretations, the better I can decide what is really happening. Let's face it, in todays world, the media is only gonna push what they know they can sell and it certainly does not have to be truth.
So just what is my point today? It's like this, I have done a lot of things in my life, sort of a "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of guy. Have not always made the best decisions and in fact have made some really horrible one's. I have met people from all walks of life and with all sorts of backgrounds. I have made a lot of money and I have been dead broke. Everywhere and everything I have seen and done, I find them. I don't really want to be derogatory, but it's gonna seem that way. There are these people that you meet in life that may not affect you one way or another, a friends spouse or a co worker, the parent of a friend. Someone in the peripheral group of friends and aquaintences, and they are totally clueless. The dangerous kind. They may be highly educated, or just highly intelligent. The deal is they think that they know what is best for you and me, yet none of their arguments ever holds up, ever. They are in denial. They are what I like to call the "slug" people.
They are not really bad people it's just that their hearts and minds are in the wrong place and they will NEVER EVER change. Most columnist fit this discription, in fact about 99.75% fit this description. Leonard Pitts of the "Miami Herald" would be an example or Rick Casey of the "Houston Chronicle". I could go on and on but I think you get the point. Somewhere along the way these people got it into their heads, that they know what all of us need, and that they have all of the answers. Well they would be DEAD WRONG. So next time your purusing any of these sites and you see an article that makes you say "WTF?", remember that they are there to "sell", it is a commodity if it can be sold. I think P.T. Barnum was off when he said that there is a sucker born every minute. I think it's like 150 born every second. Lastly, for the right price anyone will sell YOU down the river, even FOX NEWS.
I personally want to thank the three of you that read this!

Today's Media, the joke aint funny.
So where am I gonna go with this, right? Well, it is wide open. I read this morning that Lara Logan of CBS news was sexually assaulted during the crisis in Egypt. What??? No way, that could happen, not in a country full of peace loving muslim/islamist whatever.......... The truth is, CBS contributed to her assault. By the way, if it was ANYONE other than a media member, we would KNOW EVERY detail and have photos splashed everywhere. I think it was a bad call on the part of CBS, to send a woman into the fire of those protests. Come on, what is the islamic track record on womens rights, er none.
So, what is my point? I have lost faith in ANY media outlet, I am still going to gather my information from websites and newspapers, I will just have to strengthen my BULLSHIT FILTER and rely more on the blogging public to find out what the truth actually is. Now I know why some countries only have government controlled news outlets, they control the info, they control everything. Like I have said before, I am pretty naive, but I'm getting better. The good news is that the people can still bring a country to it's knees when they become united.
Here in the good old USA, we have a POS for president and the economy sucks, the housing market sucks, and the job market sucks. Prices are going up on food costs, fuel costs and damn near everything else, and meanwhile they continue to bicker in Washington. Did you happen to notice a trait that each of us Americans seem to have? We all sit on our ass and do nothing until it affects us individually, then it causes an effect. Once it hits home, we can move mountains. Look at the Tea Party, that was a grass roots movement that shook both political parties. Well, this just happened in Egypt, major changes in the middle East and I am not sure how it bodes for the USA. The fact is it could happen here at home and the likelyhood grows each day that obozo is in office.
If the media did it's job as I was taught to believe, more Americans would undertand the critical situation that faces our country today. That there is a possibility of a civil war in our own country, that radical islamist are already in our midst, that we have major financial issues, and that our current administration is NOT qualified to manage a roadside lemonade stand.
America faces many challenges in the years to come in all realms. The one fact that keeps me positive is that when people have finally had enough, they can demand change and they can get change. It only cost costs in lives and destruction. Think about that.

The NewBlackMan Blog.... Racism at your fingertips!
Good evening all, greetings to any 1st time visitors. I just had to vent a little bit after coming across another blog. "TheNewBlackMan", can anyone tell me why it is ONLY ok, for races, other than white, to claim racism? It pisses me off to read the BS that some people write. It is almost like we were auctioning off slaves last weekend on the town square. I don't own any slaves, my parents and grandparents and great grandparents did NOT own slaves. PLEASE, give me a break. I don't care if your green, if you want to be successful in America, work your ass off, then maybe if your lucky, you will achieve that dream.
I am tired of defending myself, I am white and I am proud! I don't think if my skin were another color it would make much difference either. Maybe it is the way I was raised, but that is a whole different argument. The longer I live, the more I think that our own government has caused or at least contributed to the decay of family life in all minorities. Entitlement programs have been spoilers. I think it is funny, we have a black man in the Whitehouse, and that is exactly what he is pushing forward on, yes sir, a socialist agenda. Keeping the oppressed down. Point your finger at that!
For myself, I'm gonna keep living paycheck to paycheck. Try not to be late on the house or car note, and keep the lights on. I'm not gonna piss and moan about all the things I don't qualify for because I make "too much" money, or the fact that I am white. Gonna keep hanging out with my friends and family, drink a cold beer and keep asking the Lord for forgiveness.
So, as I sit here on the outskirts of Houston, watching Egypt burn and wondering what in the Hell is going on? I can't help but wonder why people in America of all colors can't co-exist. If we don't, there will soon be fires burning in our own backyard.
